GroupWise (Messenger)

Almost all corporations in today’s date use many different instant messaging products. The biggest problem that has been arising for the past few years since IM has made it big is that the information that is being traded has been leaking. And this is not always done intentionally by the users, there are professional hackers out there to do so. In this blog I am going to introduce to you a software/product
that “GroupWise Products” came out with and it has a very simple name “messenger”.

This software/product is secured and helps you keep your information very confidential. Like all other IM products, you can communicate with your coworkers. The only downside I came across with this product is that, it does not allow you to video call or voice call others. What I really liked about this product is that it is compatible with iOS, Android, windows, OS X and Linux so it does not matter what phone or computer you work with, you can download and use this software on all devices.

Instant Messaging: Corporate policies for IM security issues

Twitter may be extremely popular with regards to social exchanges, however instant messaging is still the preferred communication between associates in a lot of workplaces. Numerous users feel that instant messaging is both effective and efficient.

Some advantages that IM has over Twitter in the corporate world:
  • Coworkers can check/see who’s online
  • Trade files and conversations
  • Anyone can repost or republish a post that has already been published/posted

Training is very essential when using Instant messaging in a corporation. Almost all of the IM forms/apps have adds that simply try to trick users into clicking the add and transferring viruses or even hack private information. Employees should be taught all tactics of IM and have serious securities preventing dangers like these before they take place.

Advantages & Disadvantages of Instant messaging in Business

In this blog, I am going to cover a couple of advantages and disadvantages of instant messaging in business/workplace. One of the biggest advantages of instant messaging is that it is very cost saving. Instant messaging cuts down traveling costs since all you need a phone or a computer to connect with people. You no longer have travel to other countries or even within the country to have a face to face conversation with them. Another great advantage is that instant messaging is as convenient as it can possibly get. You can literally be halfway across the world, as long as you have a phone/computer you can connect with coworkers right on your screen. Being on the phone with somebody can take your mind away from what you are doing, where as you can just shoot a quick message making it very brief and less distracting also for the person you want to talk to.

One of the disadvantages of instant messaging in the workplace is viruses. A lot of instant messaging apps/sites have adds which are very likely to be spams. E-mail has been one of the biggest ways for spams to get around. I myself receive a lot of spams on email, in the junk folder and some other folders as well. Secondly, sensitive information is another disadvantage. How many times have we heard about people’s Facebook or e-mail account getting hacked? It has ben declining as security has increased but hacking still does take place. This could leak a lot of information about the companies current and upcoming projects.
